First, I love your article on RSVP. I have thought about no longer entertaining because people are so rude!
I love your comments on cleavage. I am friends with some younger women who have had "work" and love to put it right out there! I, also, am not jealous, but feel uncomfortable with their skimpy attire!
Also, what is the policy when you receive a graduation announcement, or any for that matter, that is from a high school/college friend that you are not in regular contact. Is it acceptable to send a card but not a gift. I would not expect them to send something to my child who they do not personally know. What do you suggest?
Dear Anon - thank you for the comments! Regarding those sometimes pesky announcements. IF you would not send or expect something from them; the feeling can be reciprocated. IF you feel kindly, a card only is perfectly acceptable.
My grandmother, Mimi, was the Grand Dame of manners, and kept me by her side. I learned so much from her! In 2001 I went to The Protocol School of Washington and was trained as an etiquette consultant. In May 2008 I attended The Etiquette and Leadership Institute in Athens, Georgia. Etiquette is a bunch of rules; but manners come from the heart. There's no greater reward than seeing a young person realize the value of good manners. I like to think of manners as tools for life!
